CREA SETS UP A CONFERENCE ON THE INFLUENCE OF SPERMATIC GENETICS AND OXYDATIVE STRESS RELATED TO MALE INFERTILITY

CREA assisted reproduction medical centre in Valencia will set up an open conference for professionals related to reproductive medicine. The topic of the conference will deal with the importance of the male factor genetic information carried by sperm fertilizing oocytes and giving rise to an embryo.

In this regard, the impact of Oxidative Stress in human reproduction will be specifically evaluated. This is why Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology at The University of Zaragoza, Dr Pedro Iñarrea, has been invited to the conference. Dr. Miguel Ruiz Jorro, Head of CREA’s Unit of Clinical Andrology, who has a wide experience in diagnosis and treatment of sperm DNA fragmentation, will also take part in the conference.

According to Dr. Ruiz, “It is crucial to diagnose and treat the root cause of the male factor properly in order to achieve better results and suffer fewer risks. In this sense, the genetic study of the male patient and his gametes might be of extreme importance in many cases”.
